Garden News
As fall turns to winter...
This fall students in the environmental science elective worked in our school garden. They were all assigned garden beds to maintain, plant and prepare for winter. We worked on soil projects, saved seeds from the garden for next year, harvested veggies and even got to start some seeds in our brand new greenhouse. Students in class learned about the vital role of insects both in our forest ecosystems and in the garden. We studied plants and how they grow, what their names are and how they help to support all animal life on earth. Students studied local food and made posters displayed in our school cafe about why eating healthy, local food is not only good for your health but also good for local farmers and the environment. We have been busy at work and cannot wait for spring planting!
